Welcome to tia photography!

My name is tia. Owner and Professional Portrait Photographer of tia photography, since 2007.

Self-taught, film photographer from the age of 17 years old. Portraits have always been my passion.

A graduate from the Algonquin College Photography Program in 2009 provided me with the knowledge and skill of lighting in studio and I have had the absolute privilege to work with and learn from Michelle Varberg as a student, and Paul Corvette as a studio assistant. I was awarded the James Zigon Best in Show First Year - Black and White Portrait and the following year,  the Michelle Varberg Bursary for Achievement and Community Involvement.

The eyes are the window to the soul. Portraits capture emotion. I capture life in the moment. For YOU.

I work in all environments, studio, ambient, mixed; capturing life as it is. My goal is to bring photography to everyone. To capture your family, your life as you are. And to make the experience as fun, comfortable and as easy as possible for you.

My background experience is also in street outreach/front line in social services, early childhood education, volunteer medical first responder,  administration and photography. I have certifications in naloxone administration, non violent crisis intervention, applied suicide skills intervention training.

I am the Co-Chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC): patient representative on the Emergency Department Unit Leadership and Mental Health Re-Build. I am an active mental health advocate talking about suicide and mental illness to bring awareness and end the stigma.

Community is so important to me and giving back. I am honoured to be a Member of Women in Philanthropy at the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation. We are a like minded group of women coming together to address our communities most pressing Health Care issues. https://qchfoundation.ca/ways-to-give-to-qch-foundation/women-in-philanthropy/

I am also a proud NILMDTS certified Volunteer Professional Photographer for over 12 years now. We are a small Team of Volunteers in Ottawa that are on-call to respond to the sudden loss of a baby and take remembrance portraits at the Hospital for the family.  If you are not familiar with this incredible organization please visit: http://nowilaymedowntosleep.org

I have two daughters (16 years and 24 years), who I am so proud of. They are full of magic, light and energy.

I am here for you. Please let me know any questions, anytime.

Be kind.
